Websites and SEO for building and trades

What to think about before you publish.

Builders, carpenters, landscapers, designers and specialist trades. Most of your work comes from people searching nearby, on their phone, when they need someone.

What to think about.

  1. 01Licence details

In NSW, if you hold a contractor licence, your name and licence number need to appear in your advertising, and that includes your website. Other states have their own rules.
  2. 02Project pages

Each job gets its own page with photos, what you did and where. That's what Google and AI tools look for.
  3. 03Service areas

Pages only for the areas you actually want work in, and only where there's something real to say.
  4. 04Google Business Profile

For most trades it brings in more calls than the website. Photos, reviews and the right categories matter.
  5. 05Calls on mobile

Tap to call, quick to load, your number on every page.
  6. 06Pricing

If you advertise a price, make sure it's the full price, not a starting figure that hides the rest.

Questions people ask.

Is this legal advice?

No. Check licence and advertising requirements with NSW Fair Trading or the regulator in your state.

Do I need a page for every suburb?

No. Only the areas you want work in, with something real to say about each.

Can you use my existing project photos?

Yes. Good photography is the most important part of a building or design site. If you don't have it, I'll tell you which projects are worth shooting first.

Will I show up when someone asks AI for a tradie nearby?

That's the aim. Project pages, reviews and a complete Google profile are what it reads.
